Welcome to BlurData ("BlurData", "we", "us", or "our"). BlurData is an application for macOS, iOS and iPadOS designed to enhance your privacy by detecting and redacting sensitive information in screenshots, images and PDF documents. This Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to protecting your privacy and informs you about how we handle any personal information collected by the app.
Information Collection and Use
BlurData does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or information contained in your screenshots, images or PDFs. All processing — text recognition, detection and redaction — occurs locally on your device. Your documents never leave your Mac, iPhone or iPad.
Data Processing
Document processing happens entirely offline: BlurData never uploads your files or their contents, and no document data is shared with third parties, servers, companies or individuals. Some optional features use the internet for technical purposes only — downloading community detection presets and dictionaries, and (on macOS) validating your license key. These requests never include your documents or anything detected in them.
iOS & iPadOS App
The iOS/iPadOS version works the same way: all document analysis and redaction happen on your device. The mobile app additionally uses:
• Apple App Store / RevenueCat to process purchases and subscriptions — standard, anonymized receipt information only, handled per Apple's privacy terms;
• Aptabase for anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. "the app was launched", "a document was exported") — hosted in the EU, with no personal identifiers, no advertising ID and no cross-app tracking.
Neither service ever receives your documents, images, or any content detected in them.
Website Analytics (blurdata.app)
Our marketing website blurdata.app uses Plausible Analytics to measure aggregated, anonymous traffic statistics (page views, referrers, device/browser type). Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites or devices. All data is processed on EU servers, is aggregated, and cannot be linked back to an individual visitor. Under GDPR/ePrivacy this kind of cookieless aggregated analytics does not require a consent banner. We do not use any other tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting technology on the website. The BlurData app itself does not connect to Plausible or any other analytics service — only the website does.
Security
We prioritize your security. BlurData is designed with your privacy in mind, ensuring that all operations are confined to your local device. This approach eliminates the risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your sensitive information.
